July 16, 2011 - RIAT (or Royal International Air Tattoo). A name that sounds like a bell in every aviation enthusiast ears. RIAT also marked the final airshow of the first half of the 2011 season for the Belgian Air Force F-16 Solo Display Team. After this the team will take a break until half August to kick off the second leg of their tour. But, RIAT first. An overwhelming display of international aircraft. A crowd to be re-conned with. However, the weather was at it's 'best'. A complete downpour on Saturday. Luckily the weather cleared a little on Sunday, but Mitch was forced to a 'bad weather 'routine anyway. Still, this is something the crowd wouldn't want to miss.

July 9, 2011 - Yeovilton airshow is one of those yearly events that the BAF Solo Display always attends. Besides the airshow the city of Yeovilton also provides some nice historical footage to attend. This year the team visited a loch with all the knights and stuff present. The team enjoyed this little time off from the circuit very much. But then again the focus shifted towards the demo of Mitch. He proved ones again to be consistent in his flying moves. With RIAT coming up next weekend the traditional UK connection has been finished again.

July 5, 2011 - After a detour to Beauvechain AB in 2010, Koksijde AB and the Belgian coast were again the place to be for the 2011 edition of the Belgian Air Force international airshow. This year hosted a special edition since the BAF celebrated it's 65th anniversary. Being created as an independent force on October 1st, 1948 it has something special to celebrate. Beside the demo teams that display on a regular bases on this airshow, like the Patrouille de France, Swiss F/A-18 display, etc., this years event hosted the USAF T-birds. Something not to be missed.

July 2, 2011 -Waddington is one of the British certainties of the display season. This was no exception in 2011. A nice variety of aircraft was displayed there and for once the weahter was kind of friendly. After Mitch's display a little worries arose for the Belgian Demo Team since a bird strike was detected upon inspection. With the help of the "good friends" of the USAF T-birds this problem was quickly solved and Vortex was ready to fly again at Koksijde AB the next day.

July 1, 2011 - Zeltweg airbase in Austria is always a nice venue to attend. Whether the weather is nice or a little dull, the surrounding scenery always provides for magnificent displays of different aircraft or teams. This year the most notable presence was that of brand-new Saudi Typhoon fighters coming straight from the production line at Wharton. In this whole surrounding Mitch flew an impeccable display against the mountain background. You can view the overall presence in our photo album here.
