July 5, 2011 - After a detour to Beauvechain AB in 2010, Koksijde AB and the Belgian coast were again the place to be for the 2011 edition of the Belgian Air Force international airshow. This year hosted a special edition since the BAF celebrated it's 65th anniversary. Being created as an independent force on October 1st, 1948 it has something special to celebrate. Beside the demo teams that display on a regular bases on this airshow, like the Patrouille de France, Swiss F/A-18 display, etc., this years event hosted the USAF T-birds. Something not to be missed.
After having performed at Zeltweg and Waddington in the same week - or even weekend - the team was flown to Koksijde AB to attend the Belgian Air Force international airshow. Special this year was the celebration for the 65th birthday of the BAF. Created as an independent military force within the Belgian military on October 1st, 1948.

A fantastic flying program was created, featuring the Saudi Hawks, the USAF Thunderbirds, the Turkish Stars, Team Iskry, the Red Arrows, the Patrouille de France and so much more. Old glories, helicopters, transport aircraft and of course our own "Mitch" on the F-16 Solo Display. From the BAF also the A-109 team, the Red Devils (SF-260 Marchetti) and the SAR demo team (Sea-King) were present. Mitch and Stiffler came over from Waddington around noon. At first they flew some promotion and photo flights and then they were ready for the real stuff. A fantastic sunset demo was flown by Mitch.

On Thursday the weather was quite challenging. Aside from that the team performed smooth as a whole. At the PR boot it was extremely busy. This led to every single item almost being sold-out. Everyone came for a poster, sticker, gadget or poster with an autograph. During this the different display teams gave the best of themselves.

After a short closing ceremony and a meeting with the USAF Thunderbirds a farewell party was organised with music and beer, toasting on a good event. We wish to thank the entire organisation for a job well done.
