Volkel airshow report

Volkel airshow June 19-20, 2009 - Becoming almost a yearly tradition, this weekend the team displaced to Volkel AB in the east of The Netherlands. They watched the first European performance of the venerable Vulcan bomber which only flew again last year after extensive repairs. Sheik and Mitch both performed in a stunning way in their F-16s.

On June 18th we arrived at Volkel airbase. We were welcomed very good with a lot of thanks to the organisation for that. Everything was arranged when Mitch landed performing a late afternoon trainingflight. After the flight the team went to a little 'take-off' party on the base, no complains about that. We went to the Hotel early in Vught beacuse Mitch had to fly the day after. When we arrived there was a problem. Our rooms were occupied by the English demo guys. Mich woke them up and solved the problem.

Andy, hmmmm......

On June 19th we arrived early on the base. The planes were good to go and we stepped to the pr-side for building our tent. This did seem evident after having practised it for so many times, but in the end seemed more difficult because the location was bad and there was a lot of wind that blew our tent away in the afternoon. Thankfully the Dutch demo team arrranged a better place for the next day, thanks crazy guys. This day was fine. Mitch did a great show, but the speaker from the show said crazy things. Again, Mich arranged it afterwards. The show was perfect, a lot to see and everybody was helpful. After the show there was again a good party. The Dutch people know all about parties. There were good artists and we met the Engslish crew from the Vulcan.

On June 20th we arrived very early because the streets were closed around the base. We put our pr next to the Dutch demo team and it was a lot better, we were selling good and had a great time. The day went well. Mitch did his show very nice and for the first time I saw the Vulcan flying. That was special. After the show, off course again a party with Mich partiyng with us. He didn't have to fly the day after.

On June 21st we sleeped long. A little tired I guess. We went to Den Bosch with the group and Mitch went to a nice restaurant and talked about the airshow. This sunday was a calm day, we went to bed early.

On June 22nd we prepared everything in the morning on base for the returnflight from Mitch. Everything went well. When Mitch was flying home, we thanked everyone and went back to Kleine Brogel as well.

Just wanna say from the entire Belgian demo team, thanks for the great weekend and also the new people that we got to know on the airshow like the Dutch demo team, the Jordan team, the English team and so many more and last but no least to Sorraya who helped us with the pr.
