July 4-5, 2009 - The season having started little over a month ago, the team was finally able to show the home crowd what it's capable off. Together with the festivities of 30 years of F-16 service within the Belgian Air Force, Mitch gave the best of himself once more. The weather was fantastic and the airshow enthusiasts came to the Belgian coast in large numbers. Another show weekend to remember in more then one way.

On Friday morning (July 3) the team - consisting of Sandro, Wim, Peter and X-tof - left Kleine Brogel AB very early for Koksijde AB near the Belgian coastline for the Belgian national airshow. We received a very warm welcome from the organising 40 squadron (Sea-King). Unfortunately we received very bad news at the time. A Piper Cup from the Belgian Air Cadets crashed on its way to Koksijde just after take-off from Goetsenhoven AB. Two very experienced pilots - with one of them being Tom Coppennolle (a prom collegue of Mitch) - lost their lives in the accident.

The team wants to express its deepest sympathy with the family and friends of the two pilots.

Mitch and Smack flew to Koksijde from Kleine Brogel AB. Before landing there they joined with the two Dutch F-16s and went for a photo shoot over the Belgian coastline.

Friday afternoon, Mitch performed his rehearsal and in the evening we attended the nice welcome party organised by our friends of 40 squadron.

Both on Saturday as on Sunday, everyone was in a very good mood and Mitch gave two magnificent demo's. He was able to use flares during the demo, which always adds to the already spectacular performance.

The entire weekend the team was in full joy. The entire team had volunteered to help in the team's PR stand. You cannot imagine how busy it was over there from time-to-time. Thanks a lot to all people who gave us a visit during these two days at Koksijde!

On Monday afternoon we returned back to Kleine Brogel after experiencing a magnificent weekend! Thanks to the organising team of the Koksijde airshow for all their cooperation. See you next time!
